Looking for a doggy staycation? Check out these recommendations from our Wagg super fan Snowy!

I love holidays, and the pandemic allowed us to explore more of the UK when we were out of lockdown. With the uncertainty of travel abroad, my pawrents found plenty of dog-friendly staycations, these are a few of our faves:

  • Pinewood Park, Scarborough
  • Thanet Well Lodge Retreat, Cumbria
  • Woodland Lakes Lodges, Thirsk

Pinewood Park is a short drive away from Scarborough beach. Scarborough has plenty of lovely walks and dog-friendly activities, the weather wasn’t overly great when we went but we enjoyed walks along the beach, visiting dog-friendly pubs and restaurants, crazy golf and visiting the Japanese inspired, Peasholm Park, where I even went on a pedal boat (yes it was dog-friendly too!)

Pinewood Park is a glamping site like no other, it’s cowboy and western-themed! They have pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes (even cater for RVs) but also have tipis, cabins, cowboy shacks, western wagons and luxury lodges with hot tubs and now even have helicopters you can stay in! Pinewood Park is a family-run site, owners Kerry and Dave are huge animal lovers, so fur-babies get lots of attention too!

Thanet Well Lodge Retreat is located near Ullswater, on the outskirts of the Lake District. It’s a quiet, chilled site with hot tub lodges and breath-taking views over Blencathra. Keswick was a short drive away with activities and plenty of dog-friendly pubs. Ullswater was close too, and we visited Aira Force waterfall and explored the lakes.

We visited Woodland Lakes Lodges with my pawrents friends after the first lockdown. Woodlands is great for an action-packed stay with lots of activities on-site including fishing lakes, a swimming pool, spa, children’s activities, on-site pubs and restaurants and lots of places for walks. The lodges have hot tubs too looking over the lake, we didn’t need to leave the site for the duration we were there as there was so much to do on-site.

I love my trips with my pawrents and would highly recommend these three stays!
