Dog friendly events in the UK this summer

4th July 2018

Summer is finally here, and the school holidays are fast approaching – for our youngsters, this brings so much excitement, but for parents, this means six long weeks of trying to keep everyone entertained and happy.

This includes our pooches too… there’s nothing worse than leaving them on their own when everyone else in the house heads out for some family fun. So, here are five events that you can bring your four-legged friend along to.

7th-8th July, Knebworth House, Hertfordshire

Hosted by Supervet, Noel Fitzpatrick, DogFest offers a fun day out for the whole family. With a dog school and a hound hangout, dogs of all sizes and ages will be entertained here. There’s plenty to keep the humans happy too, with a food village full of tasty treats, and a kid’s area full of fun and games.

Family day tickets start at £45.

Jimmy’s Festival

21st-22nd July, Jimmy’s Farm, Suffolk

There’s nothing more we’d love to do on a hot summer’s day than lounge around listening to good music with our favourite fury pals. Jimmy’s Festival, hosted at Jimmy Doherty’s farm in Suffolk, gives you and your pup the chance to do just that!

With music from the Happy Mondays and entertainment from Andy and the Odd Sticks, there’s something for the whole family across the weekend. Dogs are also invited along but must be kept on a lead at all times and any mess must be cleaned up after them.

Family day tickets start at £50.

Dogs Trust Fun Day

Nationwide this summer

The Dog’s Trust annual fun days are back this year, offering a host of fun for the whole family, and most importantly, for your dog! Each event across the UK differs, however there’s likely to be a dog show, educational games for the kids as well as food and drink vendors.

Tickets cost £3 and under 16’s go free.

Farmer Phil’s Music Festival

10th-12th August, Near Gatten Farm, Shrewsbury

Celebrating its 20th Birthday this year, Farmer Phil’s Music Festival offers over 50 live acts including Shoot the Moon and Savannah along with children’s entertainment and a range of food and drink stalls.

Your pup can also come along to join in the fun – they just need to be kept on a lead and under control at all times.

Adult tickets start from £45 per day.

The Good Life Experience

14th – 16th September, Hawarden, Cheshire

This festival celebrates all things outdoors and offers a wide range of activities, from wild swimming to cooking classes to musical acts and celebrity talks, there is something for everyone!

Your pup can get a piece of the action too as they’re actively encouraged to come along for the day. There’s dog shows and training sessions however they’re not allowed into the main music tent and are asked to enjoy the acts from outside.

If you’re planning to stay over, they are also welcome on the campsite, but they need to be kept on their lead at all times.

Tickets for this event are a little pricier at £114 for an adult weekend pass, but under 11s go free.
